2023 Municipal General Election
I, Pamela Spencer, City Recorder for Vineyard, Utah, do hereby certify that the following individuals have met the qualifications to be candidates in the 2023 Municipal Election:

NOTICE OF A MUNICIPAL ELECTION
The city of Vineyard, Utah will hold a Municipal General Election on November 21, 2023, for the following offices:
- 2 City Council Seats – 4-year term
Those elected to fill the open positions will be sworn in and take office on January 2, 2024 at noon.
The Municipal General Election will be run by using ranked choice voting so the candidacy filing period will be August 8 through 15 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm excluding Saturday and Sunday. Our offices close at noon on Friday. Please contact the City Recorder’s office to set up an appointment if you wish to file on Friday August 11. We can be reached at 385.338.5183 or 385.338.5188.
To be a candidate you must have the following qualifications:
- You are a registered voter in the municipality in which you are elected*
- You have resided within Vineyard for 12 consecutive months immediately before the date of the election, which is November 21, 2023
- In accordance with Utah Constitution, Article IV, Section 6, you are mentally competent and have not been convicted of a felony, treason, or a crime against the elective franchise in this state. If you have had any of the above-mentioned convictions, your right to hold elective office has been restored under Section 20A-2-101.3 or 20A-2-101.5.
There is a $35.00 filing fee required at time of declaration.

*Utah Code §20A-2-101 states: A registered voter (1) is a citizen of the United States; (2) is a resident of Utah; (3) will, on the date of that election, be at least 18 years old, (4) has been a resident of Utah for 30 days immediately before that election; (5) and is registered to vote.

IMORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
August 8-15: Declaration of Candidacy Filing Period
August 16 - September 18:
Anyone wishing to file as a write-in candidate can do so August 16 - September 18, during regular office hours.
October 6: Ballots will be transmitted to Military and Overseas voters that have requested a ballot
October 22: The last day a resident can establish residency and vote in the Vineyard 2023 General Election
October 31: Ballots will be mailed to registered voters. If you have not received your ballot by October 24, please contact the Utah County Elections Division at 801.851.8128. (Once received, ballots can be dropped in the ballot drop box located in the Vineyard City Office’s parking lot or at any ballot drop box in Utah County.)
November 7 - 17:
Early voting period. Anyone who has not registered to vote may register to vote and vote
during the early voting period at the Utah County Elections Division office, 100 E. Center Street, Suite 3100 (3rd floor), Provo, Utah
November 7: The last day the county will accept voter registrations for the 2023 General Election, with the exception of military and voters overseas. To register to vote online go to www.vote.utah.gov.
November 16: Last day to submit Military and Overseas voter registrations. Military and overseas voters please go to the following website for further information on registering and voting. https://voteinfo.utah.gov/military-and-overseas-voters/
November 20: The last day to mail your ballot. The ballot envelope must be postmarked on or before this date.
November 21: Election Day. Vote Centers will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. You may pick up a ballot or get election help at any Vote Center in the county. Please check the Utah County website for locations. Vineyard will have a ballot drop box open until 8:00 pm on Election Day but will not have a Vote Center location at this time.
December 6: Canvass and Certification of election results
January 2, 2024: Newly elected Councilmembers will be sworn in and take office.
